Do It Yourself Window Treatments

Curtains, drapes, shears, cornices, and shades; If you've got a vision in mind for your window treatments, it's pretty easy to make it a reality. First, choose your fabric. You can pick from vintage fabric, designer fabric, or sheets. You can even use wallpaper to cover a shade. My favorite type of textile to decorate with are vintage fabrics. Ebay is a great resource for inexpensive and unique new and vintage fabric.

For a custom cornice, you can make your own cornice board out of plywood or foamcore. Then cover it with a fun fabric, a remnant, or a sheet. A plain old shade can be transformed by covering it with some nice wallpaper.

You can sew new curtains or shears easily. Just make sure you measure your drapery fabric and leave room for the seam allowance. If you don't want to sew, use a pretty sheet and some fabric glue, decorative pins, vintage pendants, or eyelets.
